  1. I guess I thought using all that water to rinse the cans/bottles was counter-productive to being "green."   I very lightly and quickly rinse cans.  If a jar is really in need of cleaning (ie mayo, jelly jars), rather than using the water to wash by hand, I just stick them in the dishwasher -- which I am going to run anyway -- and then recycle the clean jars.  I run my dishwasher about once a week so this works for me.  Just a thought to save money and WATER.

  2. yes

  3. I dont but do always wash out  first

  4. yes and rinse them out and cut the bottoms out and smash them flat they will take up less room and will not stink

  5. It is not a REQUIREMENT to take off the paper labels. It is more important that you get the cans to a recycling center than into a landfill.

They should ALWAYS be rinsed out.
