  1. Yes, you will.  For each pet you have in the apartment, you have to pay the fee.

My boyfriend and I live in an apartment with two cats...the "fee per pet" rule is the reason why our landlord only thinks we have one  ;)

  2. Look around for a better rental.

  3. The reason is simple, more animals, more damage.  That should not be so hard to figure out.

200 is cheap, you really should not be whining.   If you think this is unfair you need to look for a different place to live.

  4. Yes, the deposit is to cover any damage that may be caused by the pet.  2 pets can do more damage than 1 pet therefore the deposit will be more.

  5. Yes, unfortunately you will have to pay deposit for both of your dogs.

These are general policies in almost every state. Most of the times it is a non-refundable pet fee (mostly around $150) and the deposit. It is quite expensive to have a dog in an apartment building.

  6. Yes, when renting you will almost always have to pay a large deposit for each pet.

  7. Being a Landlord, myself .. I can tell you that pets CAN do untold damages that will far exceed the $200 pet fee for each one .....

I had a home that I rented out where the little Yorkie messed in every room and ruined the carpeting down to the wood .... It cost me well over $4,000 to replace all of the carpet  when the lady moved ....

Luckily for me , I took pictures ..and sued her . She had to repay me for all of the damage done by the dog ....

I'd NEVER rent to anyone with any kind of pet anymore  .... so count your blessings that the landlord only wants $200 per dog .

  8. The reason is pets do cause damages just like people. It's usually carpet damage. If a dog pees on carpet the stain is hard to get out and them smell will still be there after it's cleaned. Carpet often has to be replaced. $200 per pet is not out of line.
