  1. ifyou had an overheating issue the heads  need to be resurfaced or checked for warpege or the head gasket may not seal properly, you mayalso need new headbolts(old ones may be stretched),you shoulnt need silicone of any kind for headgaskets use felpro gaskets they require no retorquing

  2. dont need ant thing on a head gasket long as every thing else is cleaned

  3. well if the gaskets already off and the heads and block are clean, just put on new gaskets, theres no need to seal it anymore unless its blown and you just want a temporary fix. good luck!

  4. you dont use any kind of sealer on head gaskets. you found that stuff, because someone put it on to try to keep it from leaking, but if you get it all cleaned off and the head is straight, get a set of (fel-pro gaskets), they dont need to be retorqued after you torque them once.

  5. NEVER use rtv for a head gasket normally you dont need anything but if you really feel a need to use something get some gasket shellack, indian head to be precise, but you should not need it.

  6. NO you have to use a gasket silicone will not work

  7. You can't use silicone for that! OMG! If the surfaces are prepared correctly, and the job is done correctly, you don't need any sealant of any kind. You can get head gaskets that have a better seal than the original. I doubt you got it flat with a razor blade.
