When reputable people sign on to global warming, it makes me?

wonder if they are keeping secrets from the public. I don’t buy the official explanations as they are. Is there some scientist out there that has some kind of explanation that makes sense. As it stands, all the people who have good reputations are damming their own name, and will be remembered as crack pots in future times. No legacy was ever built on scams.

Why do you think there has to be some secret agenda behind global warming? Can't it just be that they know enough to be sure of what stance to take in this issue?

I don't know for sure how it works in other countries, but in Sweden it would just be impossible to hide such a big conspiracy. Sweden is one of the countries constantly working for the right to express your free word and more insight into the politics in EU for example. (And if there where an agenda, it has to involve politics, right?) If the media found out, and they would, the scandal would be greater than anything ever seen before. There is no worldwide conspiracy in this issue!

Edit: I'll try to answer your additional hypothetical question:

IF this was a secret then there is two possibilities.

1. Only a few people has managed to fool probably hundreds  of thousands of scientists (worldwide) to believe in this lies. Not a problable scenario because scientists are skeptics by nature.

2. A few people has managed to persuade all those scientists to also tell this lies. (For money I suppose?)

Wouldn't anyone start to feel bad consience and speak out?

So, what would the reason be for this huge conspiracy? I have no idea. It has to be something that threatens our whole planet to go with a lie like this. Invading aliens perhaps, in need of CO2 to survive???

I don't think the cause of Global Warming is being kept secret.  It is the severity of the situation that is being kept secret.  The American Government has always tried to convince the people that it is doing a better job than it really is, that things are better than they really are, and so forth.  If people know otherwise, they are far less likely to do and believe what the government tells them.  In my era, the Viet Nam War was a fine example of the government lying to the people.  We were winning the war right up until the day we pulled out, just as we will be in Iraq.

here's my two cents (and i'm not famous).  i formed this opinion from a little reading on the topic.  my opinion is not a popular one, but it's what it think anyways.

global warming is not a crisis. at least not one caused by people.  it is a natural cycle that the earth is going through.  there are scientists that support this.  and some think there is some other reason for focusing people on global warming like it's our fault.  it may be a distraction from some other plan going on.  don't know what, but i would keep our eyes open.

Does two decades of modern technological studies, constitute a complete history of GW? I think they don't know, so they take a better safe then sorry approach. Sometimes misguided but maybe a good cause for the interim?
