When resuming suspended game, what are the substitution rules?

I just read the White Sox and Orioles will resume a suspended game from April 28 in a couple of days. Since the rosters have changed, how are substitution rules enforced? Do the managers get to decide which new players "replace" removed players that are no longer on the roster?

  1. The lineup must be the same one that was in effect at the time of the suspension.  Players who had once played in the game before the suspension and were substituted for are not eligible to play.  However, pitchers are the exception, the pitcher of record does not have to pitch due to the rotation changes, etc.

Players who are no longer with the team may be substituted for by the manager without penalty.

  2. Yes batting order stays the same inserting the replacements where the other players are gone.

  3. the ppl same rules apply

  4. the lineup stays the same(same players, same positions, same batting order) as much as possible....if a player is no longer on the roster than he has to be replaced, but other than that once a player comes out of the game he can't go back in the lineup for the rest of that game.

  5. GReat question and some really great answers. I concur with the above.

  6. 4.12 SUSPENDED GAMES

    (d) "... A player who was not with the club when the game was suspended may be used as a substitute, even if he has taken the place of a player no longer with the club who would not have been eligible because he had been removed from the lineup before the game was suspended. ..."

  7. if it didnt go 5 innings they will just redo the game...i think

  8. rule 4.12  a player from traded from another team will be a substitute.even if he takes the place of a player no longer with the team.great question...
