When ripping a music CD to MP3 does it do any good to rip at 256 kbps instead of 192 kbps?

  1. kbps stands for kilobytes per second or somethnig like that....so 256 kbps means 256 kilobytes per second which means its a faster download than 192 kbps. It really doesnt matter unless you want the download faster


  2. Well, yes, 256kbps is higher quality so the sound will be clearer and louder. The trade off for this is a bigger file size. Personally, I always use 192kbps which I think is a good balance of file size and quality. I don't notice any major difference with the sound quality anyway.
