When running, I get out of breath after a couple minutes?

Oddly enough though, I could be going for 45 minutes at a very similar pace (with a decently high resistance) on an elliptical, and be fine. It seems to be from the bouncing up and down when running, because it's harder to keep my breathing even when running, but I'm not sure what I can do that.

  1. How hard you are breathing is correlated to your heart rate.  If you are panting or struggling to breathe after a couple minutes, odds are your heart rate is elevated well above 70% of your maximum.

Long Slow Distance (LSD) Training, which is usually at a pace you can still carry on a conversation will yield the best results.

Only you and your doctor can rule out other possibilities like asthma, or sensitivity to ground level ozone.  If you run in an urban area, the pollution index is a good thing to keep an eye on...

  3. I don't know what your problem might be, but when i run, I have a condition where when i get stressed or tired, my throat tends to close up. I then have less intake and have shortness of breath and get dizzy. You should contact your doctor for better resluts then asking us

  4. Try breathing through your nose, it really works.
