Question:

When running with the ball going down the pitch?

when running in the hallways at school its difficault to make the corners because of tracksion or speed and montune but when my friend pulls me around the corner i can keep up my speed and he crashes could we use this turning idea to out run the other team? "we are both running into the corner full speed"

  1. Interesting question.  I don't think there would be any rule against it (but there may be).  The trouble is that your opponents don't stand there like a wall, so it might be hard to put it into practice.

    By pulling on the ball carrier, you are attempting to prevent a defending player from effecting a touch (by unorthodox means).  I think a referee would have no hesitation in calling obstruction on that one, even though there is no 'obstruction' in the usual sense of the word.  Sorry.

    (Yes I realize that the link is to a 'touch' rugby site.  However, it has an excellent definition of obstruction.)


  2. It's not offside as there is no offside in open play.

    But if someone was trying to tackle you, you would be crossing or blocking. Both of which are going to get the try Disallowed.

    I wouldn't waste your time practising that one
