two pages of a book scanned at once in Letter format, so the end scan image, in pdf form, is sideways and contains two book pages

i want to:

1) split the two pages currently in one into 2 separate pages, so that when i read the pdf, each page of the pdf is equal to one book page, as opposed to two book pages side by side

2) i want the pages rotated before they hit pdf so that i don't have to click on "rotate counterclockwise" once i'm in adobe reader

thanks

  1. Hi

    I had a simillar problem.

    1) To use the method that I am going to outline make sure that your scanned pages (the 2 pages) are in a jpeg file format.

My scanner did produce them  in jpeg format for me (Toshiba estudio 24). Even if yours produced .pdf,  you can still convert them to jpeg files with omnipage.

    2) Now you can load them into a image slicer program, simillar to those by web designers when they want to chop an image to smaller files.  Where each file is a part of the overall image.  However in your case you will need to configure the image slicing so that you have 2 columns and 1 row.  That way you should get 2 jpeg files corresponding to the left and right page.

    3)  I successfully used a program called Batch It! Ultra. It is available (at the moment atleast for a 21 trial basis from the website, http://www.batchimage.com/ under the 'downloads section).

    3) As for rotating concerned I believe you can do that from within the program aswell.  I didn't need to do it for my purposes because my scanner which was a toshiba estudio 24 did the images the right way around)  I would be interested if you got the rotation working for you, so do let me know how you get on with that.

You will get a .html file for free, which I suppose you can delete for keep it, its your call on that.

    Hope that helps
