When selling a junked car?

do you need to still go to a notary to sign over the car or just sign the title and give the car and title to junker.

  1. In my state, We just sign the title over, write "JUNKED" in bold letters across the title and give it to the junk yard.  This protects you and prevents the junk yard from fixing the car up, selling it and "jumping the title", avoiding sales tax.


  2. Just sign it and give it to the driver.  They will take it from their.  Don't forget to collect your 'junk car' money.

  3. Some states allow you to write a letter or give a notarize receipt, but others require a state issued tittle.  It would be best for you to contact your state tittle and registration offices. They are the only ones that could tell you the legal way to do it.

  4. I don't know of any time that you would need a notary to sign over a title.

  5. Depends on the rules for the location you are in.  Most wrecking yards have someone on staff who is a notary.
