When sending an ebay item with paypal do you have to send it before you can recieve the payment?

Hi I am sending a ebay item and I was wondering do I have to send it before reciveing the payment.It says when i send it I will get a tracking number and then email the number to paypal to get my payment.I have already recieved and email saying paypal recieved money form the buyer and all I have to do is give them the tracking number which I cannot get until I send it so is it true that I have to sen tthe item before recieving the payment???

  1. If Paypal received the money, did it get put in your account or is it pending.  Don't ever send out the product before the money is in your Paypal account.  If it is in your account, you have the money.  Don't wait until you get it to your bank account.


  2. No. This is not correct.  You are being scammed.

    Just the opposite is true, you should NOT ship the item until you have received the payment.

    Ebay and PayPal do NOT restrict access to $$ in any way, based on whether you have shipped or not.

    What is happening is a scammer won your auction, then made a fake email from PayPal and sent it to you.  The scammer is hoping that you will ship the item without actually being paid.

    Log-on to your PayPal account and see if the $$ is there for this transaction. If it is not there, then you have NOT been paid. There is no exception to this.

    You will need to report this scam to Ebay, in order to recover the fees you have paid. Then you can re-list your item in a new auction.
