Does the knife edge go towards the plate, or away?

  1. Yes,  same everywhere I believe

  2. Knife on right, fork on left, spoon on right.

    Knife edge towards the plate.

  3. Fork left, knife right with the edge towards the plate, spoon right and dessert spoon on the top.

I've also seen Fork and Knife to the right (fork closer to the plate, knife with the edge to the plate), dessert spoon  and soup spoon on top.... but that was probably some local way, not the official Knigge version. :)

  4. Hi, I think I can help you I live in german and the knife goes on the right and the fork on the left and if your in a noble restaraunt the spoon is also on the left.

  5. Hi! There's actually a way of remembering this that we are taught in Germany: MesseR nach Rechts, GabeL nach Links.

No idea about the knife edge, sorry. And spoons go at the top of the plate, and that's true for both the soup spoon and the dessert spoon.

    Guten Appetit!

  6. Fork on the left and knife on the right.
