When setting up a checking account, can you get a debit card same day? If not how long does it take?

With Bank of America I got one the same day. It was temporary though until the actual one came in the mail.

Most banks will give you a temporary ATM/debit card if you are planning on getting a Visa/Mastercard Check card. If you just want an ATM card them you can walk out of the bank with one.

7-10 days? Check with the bank.

Typically you get it in the mail within a week from when you opened the account. Make sure to let the bank know you want a debit card too. They don't always assume that is the case.
