In Japan it is marked on the package whether the fish was caught in the wild or farm raised, is there a way to tell in the United States?

  1. You're asking the wrong folks, my dear.  Vegetarians and vegans do not eat fish.  Why don't you try asking this in a general section instead?

  2. Why are you asking here?  Vegetarians do not eat fish.

  3. all i can say is ask somebody who works there!!!

  4. no idea. but a real vegetarian doesnt eat fish.

sorry to be ganging up but you referred to yourself as one and that peeved me.

but yea try the cooking section because fish are used ina lot of recipes instead of beef or chicken a lot more useful than people who don't even go near the fish section.

  5. Usually its on the package (Flash frozen, farm raised, or wild)

  6. If it's not on the package, ask the clerk.

  7. it is marked

  8. Definitely ask someone. If they don't know exactly where it is from - don't buy it!

The shop should have very detailed records of all their fish so even if they don't know offhand then they can look it up. If they don't have the records then don't buy it!

  9. That is how it is in the US too...This is not a vegetarian question though.  Also it doesn't really matter which it is because both ways are terrible.

  10. It is suppose to say here in the States too. Ask if they can't tell you assume it is farm raised.
