Right now, I usually drive with my parking lights on, I think it'll give me more visibility.

Times I don't turn it on is when it's real sunny out.

But really, when should I be using them?

  1. Me put lights on when light go away. When big light in sky go away, me no see well, so big lights on car make things bright.

When big light up in sky, not so big lights on car not very good, so I puts them off to save planet.

    Me like planet. Mmmm, planet.

  2. Visit www.driving-india.blogspot.com and check out the video on high beams or low beams and hopefully you should have your answer.

  3. Read over your question, that will answer your own question. You called them parking lights right not driving lights.

  4. I turn mine on when its raining or misty so the cars behind me can see me...

  5. Never. It's not a huge chore to move the switch to the next notch when you're turning on the lights.

It amazes me to see so many people driving with parking lights. And they've been doing it as long as I can remember.

Perhaps they're confused as to just how dark it has to be to need headlights. I have an excellent solution. If it's dark enough to think about using your headlights, it's dark enough to use them.

  6. Parking lights are just as they're called...parking lights!  Only use them when you are parked somewhere like on the side of the road.  There is a general rule - if it's dark enough for your parking lights then it's dark enough for your headlights!  Go for the gold and turn your headlights on because that's a lot more safe!

This is why I like the newer cars..the headlights come on automatically when it's dark enough.

  7. when its a little cloudy or something like that but always use your real lights in overcast skies, rain, snow, cloud

is it harder to put the lights on, with some cars??? they dont ever put them on even if its 10 at night and cops dont pull them over wtf, not using your lights if its raining or snowing is worst then speeding

  8. Never drive with parking lights!    They are not enough to help with visibility,   use your headlamps.

  9. You should never drive with parking lights on. Parking lights are for use on a parked car when you want it to be seen.

Day time driving lights or headlights are for use when driving.

  10. Like most everyone else who has answered your question....  They are called "Parking lights" for a reason.  They are only to be used while  "Parking".

Something to keep in mind...   You are driving in the rain with just your park lights on and you go to pass that semi in the right lane...   At the same time, the driver of that truck needs to change lanes because of a slower moving vehicle in front of him.  They look in the mirror and can't see anything through the road spray coming off their wheels, so they signal, and change lanes... the only problem is... you are just about even with the trailer wheels when this whole thing transpires....  If you had your headlights on, that driver would have seen you back there through the mist and would have waited for you to go by, but if they can't see you, they may endanger your life unintensionally.  Granted... we could go into a long discussion regarding who's fault it would be and more than likely the driver would be sighted for a number of violations, but you would still be dead.

Silver, grey and other dark colored cars literally "disapear" in the road spray thrown off the tires of a truck.  I have a rule, and so do a few states in the US... if your wipers are on, turn your headlights on too.  This is not for you to be able to see, but for you to be able to be "seen"!

If you think you need your parklights on, go one more "click" and turn the headlights on as well.  There are some states where it is illegal to drive with just your park lights on.

Good luck and I hope this helps....
