When should I change from reptile carpet to sand for my beardie?

Can I keep it on repti carpet, or do I need to change.

No sand is bad it will cause impaction, stay with carpet it is best!!!!!

well i have play sand im not recomending that  see im getting this special sand that dosent cause inpaction   i dont know the name so ask around the petstores hoped this helped

If your Bearded Dragon is less than 6 inches long he should be kept on the carpet.  Any time after that you can change him to Calcium Based Sand Only!  Silica Based Sand can cause impaction.



You can leave it on carpet if you like.  But, if you go with Calcium Based Sand, you need a layer of 3 to 6 inches.  You will need to sift out the waste once a week and change the sand about once a month!

do NOT under any circumstances use ANY type of sand, no matter what kind, it can still cause impaction, repticarpet or paper towels would be best
