Question:

When should I change my ferret's food?

I have a very young ferret (just a few months old). Currently I am preparing his food by giving him half a can of soft food and mixing it with warm water.

My question is how old should the ferret be before I switch him from soft food to hard food? There's also a brand of food that is a softer moist food. Should I feed him the can food, then switch to the softer moist hard food, then to the hard food?

Any help would be appreciated in making sure my baby ferret gets the proper food!

  1. You should wait till he is 11 to 13 weeks old and gradually switch him over.

  2. Well I had alot of experience with ferrets. I have three ferrets now and before them I had three ferrets. My ferrets I got when they were 1 month old. We feed them totally ferret it is hard food. But when they were little we would put water in it and smash it up so it is soft. By a year old you should switch them to hard food. But, you should always ask your vet becuase every ferret is diffrent on food.
