  1. Most landlords have an agreement with the electric company that when a tenant turns of electricity, it stays on, but is transferred to the landlords account. Legally, you close your account on the last day of your lease. You can set this up beforehand, though. Just call the company and let them know that date you want it transferred.


  2. Yes because the electric company switches back to the apartment complex I usually do it when I know i'm going to be on my last load or when I have the keys for the new place that when I would switch it.
