  1. Just continue to model the correct way to say it, you could also have your pediatrician check his hearing just to make sure it isn't an issue with his ears.

  2. I nanny a 23 month old and she does the same thing. Me and her mother aren't worried about it at all, I don't think you should be, either. Unless you are not worried and its just because you want to so that you can understand your child better because I know how frustrating is it not to understand toddlers sometimes!! I'm not really sure how to help though as I believe in just letting it come in time... good luck!!

  3. If you are concerned, get an evaluation from a licensed speech language pathologist.   You can check out ASHA (american speech and hearing association) at asha.org for information on developmental norms.  That being said, it's still normal for a 24 month old child to be difficult to understand.  You can model the correct pronunciation for him.  If he can make the sound, try to get him to imitate it.  Have you ever heard him make a /d/ sound?  If so, you can say "bird", he will probably say "bir", so you exaggerate a /d/ sound.  See if he picks up on it.  Only try this 1-2 times and then let it go and try again later.  You don't want him to get frustrated.   Hope this helps/

  4. They will have some problems with Annunciation usually until they are about 6-7 years old but it will get better the more he says the words and the more he hears others say the words.
