I practice everyday to get better at chess...but never do. I still royally suck at chess and still can't be level 4/10 on windows vista. At what time should I just give up and accept I am an idiot and will never be good at chess?

  1. you're only an idiot if you give up:)

the more you lose now, the less you'll lose later

  2. DUDE!!! YOU NEVER GIVE UP.  IT TOOK ME SIX YEARS OF PLAYING AGAINST MY DAD AND UNCLE BEFORE I WAS EVEN ABLE TO KILL THEIR QUEEN.  THEN IT TOOK ME ANOTHER 3 YEARS BEFORE I COULD BEAT THEM FOR 1 OUT OF 15 GAMES.  NEVER GIVE UP AND DON'T THINK YOU'LL NEVER WIN CAUSE YOU WILL!!

    KEEP PLAYIN AND WIN!!!

  3. If you want to improve your chess game you should pick up a chess book, it will discuss strategies you have never thought of before and will help you to improve your game.

  4. Anyone who even wants to learn how to play chess is not an idiot!

But it will take practice, practice, practice!  Don't give up!

  5. never! try and try eventualy ull get better

  6. Hey dude I play a 'live game of chess, but you should win because I didn't play it in twenty-five years.

  7. Never give up! Just keep trying and you will eventually succeed! I had the same problem with another game. I thought I was never gonna get better but I kept going and I eventually got it!

  8. Take heart!  You almost always learn more from losing then winning -- provided you study the game to see why you lost.  Nothing will improve your game more then learning and mastering basic tactics.  If you can't find better players in your area (Look for a local Chess club) try some of the lower cost software, such as Chessmaster Grandmaster edition.  It has academies to teach you tactics, drills to help you see how well you learned the material tournament and training modes.  You can select "personalities" to play from ratings of around 600 (know how to move pieces) to Chessmasters 2900+ rating and everything in between.  The program is around $40, but you can play all you want against real people using it on-line (No charges other then buying the program.)

    I hope this helps.

  9. Never give up.  Keep trying.
