Question:

When should I move my molly (fish) into the birth tank?

I have 4 mollies (2 males, 2 females), and 1 of the females is pregnant. I don't know when to move her into the breeding tank. If I do it too soon, that will stress her out, and I don't wanna move her in too late because that will stress her too, and she'll release her fry too soon. So when should I move her in?

  1. Mollys are very sensitive and prone to premature birth when stressed, generally it would be best to move her to a separate breeding tank early on as the first signs of pregnancy is noticed.

  2. they release their fry every month,as soon as she looks about to give birth, she may be hanging at the bottom hidden.

  3. You may want to move her in close to the ending of the month, they take a month to realease the fry.My mollies are breeding right now,so I will have molly fry,and I usually move my females in when you can see their eggs in their stomaches.
