I read that you should pick yellow squash before it has bumps all over it. However, one of my squash has bumps on it and is around 8 inches long. Can I still eat it? Will I have to peel the skin off?

In the future, when should I pick the yellow squash?

  1. Socom your squash is ready to eat, after they get about 7 or 8 inches long will be good,  if you let them get much larger they are not good, as seeds gets to big.  You do not need to peal your squash just wash under faucet.

    Good Luck

  2. If you pick it small the seeds will be small.  Big seeds in the squash aren't very good.  So the small squash won't give you as much to eat but will be the best.

  3. I always pick my yellow squash every 4-5 days -before it gets lumpy  looking .  Then it will be tender and easy to slice or boil, or whatever -the bigger it becomes the tougher it is & when it gets warty looking I toss in in the field..
