We live in a VERY old house, we remodeled it all when we moved in, we wanted to keep the old look, so we kept the doors and molding, they were already painted (most likely with lead paint) and we re-painted them all with "kills" but I'm still concerned about the lead levels in this house, so my question is at what age do I need to start having my sons lead levels checked, someone said it wasn't necessary until he was walking, but I feel I should do it sooner... does anyone have to do this?

  1. I live in a 98 year old house. I asked about that. The city I live in does it for free BUT not until the child is one year old. Doesn't make sense to me really but that is the way it is done. Not sure if other cites in Ohio do that as well or not.

  2. call the health dept. here in IL they also don't check until a yr old but maybe if you tell them you are concerned they will check sooner.
