I am 32 years old and married to a wonderful husband. We both wrk 40-50 hours a week and we have been trying to get pregnant now for 8 months. My doctor told me that I should relax during the summer and wait until winter to start taking test, but this is so hard. I want to know if there is a problem now and both of us are getting anxious. What to do? (BTW- we already know we should try to be stress free and we do not take drugs)

  1. I believe it is 18 months in the UK. My sister was almost 2 years, I was 9 months and really starting to worry!. Don't know about USA times.

Good luck - it will happen when you least expect - why I thought I was going a bit mad, then someone else said do a test (I was only a few days late-normal for me) then YIPPEE!!

  2. If you were on the pill for awhile, then that could be a problem.

Go on a stress free weekend at the beach or anywhere. Have a glass of wine and just kick back and .....

I know 8 months seems like an eternity, but give yourself another couple of months.

Maybe you can chart your ovulation. Ask your doctor.

Have less s*x during the time you aren't ovulating.

    Hubby should wear boxers.

  3. It wouldn't hurt to go get checked out.  Just knowing that everything is okay will help.  I think after a year of trying is the normal time frame to check things out.  You are in control of your own health....if your doctor wont help, then switch doctors.  There are many doctors out there who will help you.  Best of luck!

  4. In the US, we generally ask patients to try to conceive naturally for 12 months prior to exploring infertility causes.  It may be helpful to purchase an ovulation prediction test to determine when your LH surge occurs (if you haven't already done so).

    Good luck!
