My fiance and I have been dating for 5 years and we have a son who is about to be three. We finally decided on a date for the wedding. Its going to be September 11, 2010. When should I start planning the wedding? I know that its a long time off... a little over 2 yrs, but its a special date as well as We basically know everything that we want to wedding to be like. I even have found the exact dress that I want....I thnk that it is a little to early to start though.

  1. Hi this is Sophie and I am a wedding planner.

It is never too early. Start so reserve the venue, get the DJ/band you like, pay the deposit to your caterer. You  can get the best vendors if you do it so far ahead.

Do not buy the dress yet, because your taste might change, but you can reserve your honeymoon travel! You can basically do everything ahead, you will save a lot of money!

    Good luck!

  2. Start planning your bachelorette party, http://www.sextoysex.com/s*x/start/cat.h...

  3. Yes, I do think that is is way to early.  As far as booking locations etc.  But, you could buy wedding magazines and a planning book to put what you want and your ideas for your wedding.  As far as your wedding dress I would wait.

  4. If you've found your dress and know what you want it to be like, you've already started planning!  You can look around and plan whenever you want!  A lot of places won't take a deposit or hold a date more than a year in advance though.  Have fun!

  5. At this point, just collect ideas and unless something you are pretty sure you want is a down right dirt-cheap bargain, keep notes but don't buy anything.

I'd say early 2009 would be a good time to really start doing things and putting stuff together and making solid plans like the DJ/reception/caterer/church and so on.  There is no harm in starting early in order to ensure you get the location and staff you want to have.

  6. I think you'd be wise in making it legal now, and having the ceremony whenever you choose.  Should something happen between now and then, you won't be the next of kin like a wife would be.  You have a son.  Isn't he worth making your union a legal one now?

but as far as planning the ceremony, six months to a year ahead of time is the time to do it.

My husband's oldest brother and his wife did it the way I mentioned above, and the ceremony was still as special as it would have been had they waited to be legally married.

Edit: Why the thumbs down?  What I said was accurate.

  7. actually i think if you know what you want and all then i say start buying little things here and there so if like your theme is fall after fall season buy your things on clearence, things like that, its gonna get stressful and get stressful fast and with a toddler its not any easier, so do as much now so you can try to enjoy it and not get to stressed!!

    congrats and good luck!!

  8. Our wedding date is June 19, 2010 and we started back in June. I figure the more time, the better. Our goal is to be completely done with the planning ahead of time so that there's no last minute crunch to get anything done.

There's no harm in starting now, but you don't have to if you don't want to.

  9. Interesting Date Choice..

I would say One Year to the day.

    So in this case 9-11-2009.
