When should I switch to dance blades?

I've decided dance looks more fun than freestyle. Do I need to switch blades ASAP to learn the basic dances, or can I let my current blade wear out? They're so expensive...

I would just wear out the blade you have now. Don't get a new dance blade until you start to get more competitve and intense with dance! =)

Go ahead and use the blades you currently have, and wait a little bit until you switch to dance blades. Dance blades usually cost about the same as a good intermediate/advanced level freestyle blade.
