  1. DENTURES SHOULD BE RELINED EVERY FEW YEARS  RECENTLY THEN IT'S TIME FOR A RELINE.

  2. Call your doc and go in for an adjustment.  They may just need to be relieved and then possibly relined.  However, if these are immediates then you really should be getting new ones.

  3. Hello, depending on the quality of the denture teeth used to create your denture, the average longevity of a denture is between 5 and 7 years....Because you are having rubbing issues that is a specific sign that the denture needs, at minimum, to be refitted, (Relined)....If on the other hand the denture teeth and "or" your gums have worn down to the point that the jaws are over-closing when you close your teeth together, the denture needs to be replaced.....Let me explain this...denture teeth are available in a number of qualities and materials...Some of the really "cheap" denture teeth can wear down far to soon and that allows you jaws to over close...Also, if you have been dieting and lost a great deal of weight the gums can have shrank a great deal and that can make dentures loose...And by the way, once gums shrink they don't grow back...that is why when a person gets really sick and looses as little as 2% of their body weight in a very short period of time, it can be enough to affect the fit of a denture....If you are unsure about your jaws being in the right position when the teeth are together, let me give you an old technique that can actually determine if your bite is right or over closed...in other words, your nose and chin are getting to close together.....Now, take a pencil and place a "dot" on the tip of your nose...now place a "dot" on the most forward center point of your chin....OK, now measure the distance between the center of the pupils of your eyes..()..like this..(),

OK...now close your teeth together and measure the distance between the dot on your nose and the dot on your chin....OK..We the majority of people will find that the distance between the center of the pupils of the eyes will be within three millimeters of the same distance between the dots on the nose and chin...OK, that's your "do it yourself" bite check....If the two "Dot's" are much closer together than the eye measurements, that would indicate your jaws are over closed and that can eventually possibly cause jaw joint damage.....If you have additional questions about your dentures, Email me at <thedenturepro@aol.com>...good luck and I wish you well.
