When should i send out wedding Invites!

Question

I'm getting married on 24th july, and not sure when to send out invites and get rsvp's. As getting married on a friday and during summer holidays think the traditional 8 weeks will be too late?? Also i'm going to send out day invites first so if any definite no's i can invite some evening guest etc...

I know i'm asking early but making my own invites and need to print them hehehe

I think 6-8 weeks is normal. Of you have people that have to travel long distances for the wedding, they should get a save the date 6 months before the wedding because they will need more time to make arrangements. If you were having it on a big holiday weekend you would also send save the dates.

You can send out Save-the-Dates now to 6 months before (and since it'll be during summer holidays this might be a good thing for you to consider so people can start planning ahead). Invitations should be sent out 6-8 weeks before (June 12-May 29). I wouldn't recommend sending them out much more than 8 weeks because, without meaning to, people tend to forget with that much time before. The RSVP date should be 2-4 weeks before your wedding date.

Do save the dates now and then send it out no more than 2 months before the wedding date. I hate mine in the summer too but word of mouth lots of people will here about it.

you could send out save the date cards to your guests 12wks prior then send the invites 8 wks prior

you never want to send them out earlier then 8 weeks.  People don't want to get them that early.

10 weeks for out-of-towners, 8 weeks for locals....

You should also send out-of-town guests a Christmas card with hotel information & directions along with any pre/post wedding celebration information (if they are invited).
