  1. I put my oldest in a toddler bed on his second birthday. He was ready. He loved to lay in the big bed and was always trying to climb out of the crib. Our transition went really smoothly. He couldn't wait for me to put it together. I bought the Disney Cars bed and he absolutely loves it.

  2. Does he like his crib still?  Is he climbing out of it?

My daughter loved her crib, so there was no reason to move her to a toddler bed.  I didn't move her until around her 2nd birthday.  She would still be happy in her crib too though.

  3. They say you should do it the 1st time they climb out of the crib.

  4. 2 1/2 to 3

  5. There is no time frame.  If your child is climbing out of his crib or is unhappy in it, then yes, its time to make the switch.  If he is happy and comfortable in it, then leave him.  There is no right age.  It happens when you, the parent, feels its time.

My daughter is 3 and is perfectly fine in her crib.  I see no reason to take her out of it just yet.  Plus it offers me some sense of safety that she isn't able to get up and hurt herself in the middle of the night.

  6. as soon as he starts walking on his own.

walking and talking are signs that its time to move from crib (baby) to bed (toddler).

my son moved to his toddler bed at 14mths and it took him a few weeks to really get the hang of it, but he loves it and I'm thrilled. :)
