  1. Well if you're not too busy you're Junior year and you're ahead of your studies, I would advise you to take it your Junior year.

    :)

And if not Junior year, then start it early Senior year.

  2. It depends how many times you want to take it. I would take it at least two times and no more than three. You should probably leave room to take Subjects Tests too if necessary.

You don't want to take the test in the beginning of the year because after summer people tend to forget a lot. Take your PSATs in October so you can get to know the tests, your strengths and weaknesses. In January you can take the SAT for the first time. You'll get more your score reports in late February and can use it to improve when you take it later on that year. In May you can take the Subjects Tests in your most challenging classes that your good at (ie, AP Physics) and in June take the SAT 1 again. In October of Senior year you should make your last attempt at the SAT after preparing some more in the summer.

You don't have to take three SATs (two is fine) and some schools don't require SAT Subject Tests. Whatever you do, make sure you take many practice tests to get familiar with he exams and improve your score

    Good luck
