When should i use .com or .org when buying a domain?

am planning on buying a few domains but i just want to know whether i should use the .com extension or the .org extension.What determines the choice of the domain extension is my question.

As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your website: 1- Buy a domain name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name.

.com is for commercial websites, but its common enough where its acceptable to use for any purpose.

.org is for generally for non-profit organizations and websites devoted to open-source content

Usually if you are doing this for a commercial venture, you would by all three of them. This ensures that your customers will get to you either way. If this is not a fully commercial site use what best fits. .com is for commercial, .net is for networks, and .org is for non-profit organizations. My own personal website is a .com.

This is the general rule:

.com - company

.net - network

.org - organisation

But most people go for .com even if their not a company because it's easier for people to remember.
