When should i water a forklift battery? before or after charging?

After, the electrolyte expands as it takes on a charge and if you fill it before, it may overflow after it's charged. I speak from experience on this one, made a mess, sucked to clean it up.

both as you need to check before to insure electrolyte covers the plates and then after to be sure charging has not dropped the electrolyte level.
