  1. no not really. its another bill just wait until you get into high school. theywill start trustin you more then good luck

  2. I disagree with Anon. Kids in Britian don't normally get a phone when they're 11 or 12. Only the lucky kids get them, and I know plenty of kids who still don't have them. In many causes their parents are refusing to buy them phones until they're at least 15.

Sorry, but I don't think cellphones are necessary when you're so young. They still have payphones which you can use, or you can use the landlin at home to call your friends. When I was young, we made a plan to meet, and if someone was late, we would return to the meeting point every 10 minutes until they arrived. It's not hard to live without a cellphone.

I'm 24, and I got my first cellphone for £70 ($140) when I was 16. I was moving home, and there was no landline in the new house, so it was the only phone I had. My parents have NEVER bought me a cellphone, and I don't think they should have to when they're already paying the bill of the phone at home. I've been working since I was 15, and I saved up for it myself.

If I was a parent now, I would only get my child a phone if I lived in an unsafe area, and I would bar all outgoing calls other than to my number, the father's number and emergency services. I believe if you have a phone, you should pay for it yourself. so perhaps the best place to start would be to earn some money, if you don't already.

  3. There are several points you might raise with your parents:

    1.  Offer to pay for it yourself.

    2.  Make a commitment that you will not become distracted by the cell phone, using it to text/chat, etc., when you need to be concentrating on school.

    3. Suggest a 30-day trial to see how it works out. You can demonstrate that you are paying for the phone and using it responsibly.

    Good luck!

  4. I noticed when I was in America that you get cell phones much later than we do in Britain. Generally we get them when we're around 11-12. I think you should get one when you need one. Peer pressure (I want what he's got) is normally the reason for kids wanting them so young over here.

    Advice for persuading them:

    -  find a bargain deal somewhere.

    -  put yourself in a position where you need one and show them the consequences of you not having one.

    -  tell them that you won't be ringing up your mates, wasting money all the time (I know that's a lie)

    Hope this helps

  5. You need the phone for contact with your friends & family.

If something happens to you, you can just phone your parents & they`ll be there to help you, but if you dont have a phone you`ll just be in deep trouble.

Your old enough, you should really get a phone.

I got mine when i was 4th grade.

  6. If you are able to pay for it, ask for a pre-paid cell phone.

I don't think anyone should have a cell phone until they have a job and can pay for it on their own.

  7. u should have one by 14 or 15

by high school there will be sports, clubs , staying after school and lots more friends to go out with at night.. so if they want to be in touch wen those things inevitably happen they should get u one

  8. Today, most middle schoolers get cellphones strictly because they need contact with their parents if they walk to school alone, etc, because there is so much crime these days. So, when you talk to your parents, tell them you need a phone just in case

I got a cell phone in 7th grade.
