Question:

When should one eat before going to an amusement park?

I have a terribly weak stomach, but I love crazy amusement parks! I'm going with a bunch of friends to Six Flags in a few weeks, when do you think is the best time to eat that day in order to no throw up? A few hours before? A big meal or small snacks? I don't want to go hungry, either.

Haha. Food questions are lame.

  1. It's not a lame question. I asked my coworker pretty much the same thing. I don't have a weak stomach, but I am always hungry and don't feel like spending a fortune on amusement park food.

I eat a big breakfast (a healthy one!) right before I get in the car and go, and have a snack on the way there. That way by the time I get to the park, the food is in my system and I can ride for hours.

When we do stop to eat at the park, after eating we either go up in a sky ride to take photos, or we get in line for one of the coasters that has at least an hour line. This is so you have time for your food to settle before you ride again.

This method works for me, I'm not sure if it will work for you, but hopefully I helped you in some way.

  2. Hi my name is Simon, and I live right next to Six Flags Over Texas.  I've gotten numerous Seasons Passes in the past couple years.

Well if you're going to go at around 10:00am, wake up around 8:30 and eat a light breakfast like a couple boiled eggs and a banana with a glass of Orange Juice.  This simple breakfast has a little bit of protein, potassium, and Vitamin C.

For lunch, stay AWAY from all those fast food places, and the fatty kitchen diners they have at Six Flags.  No pizza, fried chicken tenders, french fries, etc.  Fried foods have too much oils and fats and will upset your stomach.  You've got to stay with healthy foods if you're going to go through physical tensions like a 4G roller coaster that can black you out.

For lunch, try a turkey deli sandwich with lettuce and tomato.  Turkey meat is very lean and does not have much fat.  Bring fruits to snack on throughout the day like apples, bananas, pears, oranges, etc.

Also, bring some gatorade to drink.  It's mid-summer now and you'll be sweating a lot.  Gatorade is better than Powerade and alot of other re-hydrating sports drinks because it has a lower sugar content.  Sugar makes you feel sick too sometimes.  After the gatorade runs out, be sure to drink plenty of water.  When you're dehydrated, you might get dizzy and nauseous, which could attribute to vomiting.

    I hope this helps!

  3. Right before, so then you barf, vomit, or upchuck on your parents.

  4. Small snacks.  If you eat a big meal, you will have too much in your stomach.  Try dry foods like pretzels or crackers that will help soothe a potential stomach ache.

  5. I would say, just eat something an hour or 2 before you leave. Don't eat something that's too fatty or anything, maybe like a salad or a light sandwich. Also, make sure you drink a lot of water before and while you are there. if you get really hungry while you're there, just get a small snack that is, again, not too fatty. Hope this helps :-)

  6. same with me! I just eat a big breakfast. Then I eat a big lunch for energy and I go on the kiddie rides for like 20 minutes. Then I go in the line for the big rides. It works for me!
