Question:

When should you send AP grade reports?

This year the state allowed sophomores to take world History AP, and of course, more than 90% of the students in the class took the AP class.

I didn't realize what the grade report was until I recieved my results from CollegeBoard, and now I'm wondering if I should start sending them to the colleges I intend to apply to junior year.

What to do?

  1. Don't worry, very few colleges ask for your AP score reports.  Instead, they ask you to self-report the scores.  When you apply to colleges, there will be some portion of the application that asks you for your AP scores, and you just type the test name and the score that you got on the test.  After you've been admitted and decide to enroll in a college, you submit the actual score report from the College Board to that one college because they need the actual copy.  But when you're just applying, you don't actually need to send the real copy.

This policy is typically the case, but every school has a different policy, so you'll want to check with the specific colleges that you're applying to.  Their websites are a good place to start.

  2. send them out to colleges you are interested in. they will send you admissions information valuable to your understanding of your school. I sent it out to colleges I was interested in and my sister just took several AP test and also sent oout the reports. It is never to early to start.

Oh and to add on what I typed...

I hope you do understand that if you do well on the Ap test, you are able to be exempt on taking for ex. a history class in college. Some schools allow this and some don't so you may want to research this too. Good Luck Scholar!
