  1. thighs, im a 16 year old advanced skiier and i would have to definatley say thighs, also ur back starts to get soar

  2. All of the muscles you mentioned will get worked hard, but the most important ones to strengthen are in the front of lower leg. Work on lifting a small weight with your toes only.  A seldom used set that are critical to advanced skiing.

  3. Every muscle you never knew you had!!

Mostly upper legs. But you should have a strong core (abs, lower back). This is vital for maintaining good balance. If you get off kilter, a strong core will allow you to recover more easily.

  4. Quads, without question, although your thigh abductors/adductors get worked as well.  Your waist gets worked to a lesser degree, but then again my core is relatively strong (from rock climbing) so perhaps I don't feel it as much.

I find that one-legged squats do a good job of training for skiing loads.
