  1. Boots hanging over the edge is a bad idea, especially 1-2 inches.  I would suggest getting a wider board and if that don't work, risers will help.

  2. scotty b,

that is a cool name... :)

hey man, so, there are these things called toe cant plates, alot of company's make them for the tons of people just like you that have the problem of toe drag.  They are fairly in expensive and easy to install, that is my suggestion to you :)  It will make a huge difference.  Just head on down to your local snowboard shop and see if they got em'.  Da Kine makes some that are pretty good and most binder companies offer some sort of solution for toe drag.   If however you are looking for a new board eventually...might I suggest the K2 Nemesis, I normally dont like K2 but for guys with bigger feet, it really is a great board, one of the top for guys with big feet this year. Here is a website below that should be of some help to you too, they have everything goin on there. plus a few other websites that are cool and have a lot of products.  With snowboarding.com, type in www.snowboarding.com/products and that will put you in the products category right away. frostyrider.com is like the myspace for snowboarders...pretty cool. and the house is a website with tons of products.  I included those websites cause they are good company's to buy from but suggest still buying from your local snowboard shop.  Have a great day!!

  3. Yeah 1-2 inches is too much overhang you dont really want much more than half an inch either side. Just because you have size 12 boots doesent nessesarily mean you need a wide board. as if you ride heavily ducked you could get away with it. But it definately sounds like you need a wide or mid wide board as at the moment you are at risk of toe and heel drag which isent good especially if your going fast, Good luck with the riding.

  4. on your toes you dont want more than a half inch off the board but on the back your ankle support on you bindings should hang over a little causing you heal to naturally be a inch or 2 off the back.

  5. Its okay if your toes hang over the board a little bit but 2 inches is a little much. If you go to carve and you're catching snow with you're boots you can fall. See if your can get some risers for your bindings.

  6. Some overhang is OK - look at the "lifters" on your bindings and the angle under the toe and heel of your boots. These give you extra clearance - you only need 30 - 45 degrees of clearance. If your lifters and boots give you that then you are OK.

    Good Luck

  7. 1-2inches each side? go wide. i have 11-12 boots on a wide and still overhand a little but too much can be bad balance, when you do a hard turn your toe or heels can drag in the snow causing instability.

  8. Yes it does matter, because it effects the weight and balance of the board and if you make a sharp turn,(etc.), you foot will get caught in the snow and cause serious injury.
