When soda cans are recycled, what do they use to strip the paint?

Is it an abrasive? Is it a chemical? Which chemical?

  1. They don't remove the paint.  They simply melt the cans in a furnace.  Any paint or residue in the cans is burned off and the aluminum is then processed into usuable form so it can be reused.


  2. more than likely it is evaporated when it hits the smelter
