A while ago, due to a bladder infection, we had to put our cat to sleep. I held him as he got the shot. This was the second time through the years we had a pet put down. In both cases I noticed that when the shot took effect, their eyes went black. So I wondered if that happens when a person dies. Sorry for the topic but I've been curious for years. Thanks ahead for your answers.

  1. No, the iris retains its colour.

In fact, the woman who has what are considered to be "the world's most beautiful eyes", Aishwarya Rai of India, has signed a donor card to donate her eyes upon her death.

    Best wishes.

  2. Well I can't say for sure, but I have seen donor eyeballs in my workplace which were removed after death of the donor...and they had their normal color to them.  Gross though.

  3. I think that was just their pupils dilating.

I've seen more than my share of dead people and I don't remember anything different about their eyes. They look pretty normal in general ,if a little pale and waxy.

  4. I don't think so. That's just something they show in movies.
