When someone dies, does the insurance co contact the beneficiary?

If so, how does the insurance co find out about the death??

  1. SOMEONE HAS TO TELL THE INSURANCE COMPANY, THEN THEY NOTIFY THE BENEFICIARY IF THEY KNOW WHERE THEY ARE.


  2. as one answer to your question, I'm not totally sure of all the rules but when my husband died, to help pay for his burial, we turned in his insurance forms to the funeral home, they looked them over and reported to the company for a follow through payment. I was totally grateful for the insurance and funeral home companies assistance in that regard.

  3. I think if you are married , the spouse is the one who calls. I don't think insurances are eager to pay so they aren't investigating if the thousands of people they insure are still alive.
