Who gets the money collected from the fine?

  1. Depends on which state and what court. In many, most of the fine goes to the county (or city, in a municipal court). Court costs (really a collection of state fees) may go to the state, with the local government keeping a portion for accounting for it. There may also be special fees that stay local, such as for the court security fund.
