I sent out some resumes to some companies. One of them emailed me saying they want an interview, but now I changed my mind about them. How do I politely say no?

  1. Thank you very much, but I've decided to take a position with another company.  If it doesn't work out, I will get back in touch with you and I hope you will still consider me.

Something along those lines.  It's honest, polite and it keeps your options open.

  2. Just thank them for the appointment but tell them you excepted another companies offer. They will appreciate a quick reply,so get on it....

  3. "Thanks....But no thanks"

  4. Hello,,Thank You for allowing me the opportunity to work with you but I've decide to pursue other options.. Or I figured you would s***w me so later punks.

  5. Just politely decline the interview. You don't have to give them a reason, you don't report to them. But you do want to respond to the email in case there is another opportunity you may want to take advantage of in the future. Or if the person you are responding to someday works at another place you may be interested in. Your question did not mention that you have found employment, just that you were no longer interested in this job. Be careful of the bridges you burn, you never know when you may need to cross them in the future. And always conduct yourself in a professional manner in all phases of your job search.

    Something like this:

Thank you very much for the offer of an interview for the position of _______. At this time I am no longer interested in this position and decline to interview.

Again, thank you for your interest.

    Sincerely,

    Your Name

  6. You simply let them know that you have already found a job, implying that they responded too late.

  7. Personally, I think you should just go ahead and go to the interview.  You may learn something that makes you take another thought about the company.  You may meet someone that you'll come in contact with down the road...that's networking.  If nothing else, every interview you go to is good practice, and it's only an hour out of your day.  Just go in, do the interview, learn something new, meet someone new, and of course send a thank you card later.

  8. I would lie

tell them you already have a job

unless you get the feeling they'll grill you about your "job"

    be honest

tell them your persuing a different career

or you just don't need the job right now

be nice but make sure they get the point

  9. don't feel so badly about it.  just say "thank you for your response however I have since found employment with another agency.  good luck with your search"
