Does anybody know if there's a name to the condition where someone personifies an object like it has feelings and thoughts? And they treat the object like a person?

I'd call it more of an emotional attachment than a fetish. Would you consider that OCD? Anyone got any ideas on a name of it?

  1. I'm a diagnosed schizophrenic, during an acute episode I was convinced this stuffed animal was a baby. I had other problems besides this too though. I'm pretty much recovered at this point. I take my meds and because of myexperiencee I'm very familiar with psychiatry and mental conditions and am a stronger person. What you're talking about may be totally different than what I went through but to me personifying an object sounds like a delusion. If you care to share more info about the situation I may have more imput. If you'd rather not get into details you might want to consider looking up delusional disorders and schizophrenia. I also knew a girl with aspergers syndrome who thought certain objects had feelings. This isn't a main symptom or anything of aspergers but you might want to look up that too.
