Do you actually believe them or send them your story when someone answers your question and they say they'd like to read your story because it sounds interesting?

Thanks in advance!

  1. I determine if I'm going to let someone read my stuff by the enthusiasm of the conversation.  I don't usually drop the information that I'm a writer unless we casually get around to it.  In most cases they have a favorite genre or author and I consider mentioning it if my writing is similar.  In other cases I wait for a second opportunity to arise.  But I've heard plenty of stories about agents or editors who hear about someone's work and drop a hint and contact information.  If that's the case what do you have to lose.  It's just paper and in some cases two or three quick strokes on the keyboard.  I always want feed back.  So yeah I take the opportunities when they arise.  I always attach a reminder note, contact infor and some type of ummph so the person (if they actually read it) will remember me.

  2. No, not really. I think that they are just sucking up to me.

  3. 'rich w' is right..wait until they ask for it again

  4. I generally leave it alone until they ask a second time on their own.  If they say they want to read it when I first mention I'm writing something but then they never bring the subject up again, I figure they just thought they were trying to be polite, even though people ought not to say things they don't mean

If they ask a second time to read the story, then I figure they're serious.

    That's my take.

  5. There is really no way of knowing, but I'm sure a fraction of those people do it to get the best answer. ☺
