  1. It means you can choose to listen to it in either English or Japanese.

  2. You can listen to whatever it is you're watching, in English or Japanese with the option of having subtitles.

  3. 'Dual Audio' means you can listen to something in two languages. So if it's dual audio with English and Japanese, it means you can listen to whatever it is that you're watching in those languages, and usually you can opt to have the subtitles at the bottom of the television screen. :D

  4. Your question has been well answered by others, but I think it's also worth mentioning dubtitles (as opposed to subtitles). With subtitles, as a rule you see a direct translation of the spoken Japanese.

However, many anime films and series are also dubbed into various languages, but in an attempt to make the English words match the mouth movements (which were are course designed for Japanese words) the words are changed, added to, etc - so dubtitles are subtitles of the DUBBED version which will differ to subtitles for the original language.

    Hope that's clear. :-)

  5. Actually, it doesn't just mean that the language can be heard in both English and Japanese.  Dual Audio also means that there are 2 complete soundtracks.  Since some shows are dubbed into English, not only is the spoken language changed, but the soundtrack and some sound effects are also changed, for example see episodes of Yu Yu Hakusho", the American version is in English and has a different Audio soundtrack to the Japanese Version.

It is kind of similar to subtitles, but instead a seperate audio file is embedded into the video and not just set to be overlayed.  Dub means voice over, sub means subtitled.

Dual Audio files are usually stored in non fully compressed video containers such as MKV or OGM files.  You can usually select from the Video Players options, which audio track you would like to run, use VLC Player as that is the most effective media player available.
