When someone says that something is X times bigger then something else, what are the criteria?

Ex: This species of bird in 4 times larger then any known flying animal on Earth.

Is it circumference? Size? Volume?

  1. Probably size unless they specify otherwise.


  2. Most likely they are talking about weight. That can be easily measured and compared.
