  1. As with all costs related with a property purchase you would have to deposit funds with the solicitor to cover fees, searches, land registry costs and stamp duty.

    All these costs are effectively added to the purchase price of the property and are therefore paid by the deposit/mortgage.

    In short, the stamp duty is deducted direct from the purchasors funds and paid over accordingly to the tax office
