I recently tried starting up an old computer I haven't used in about 10 months. It's a Gateway Pentium 4 with Windows XP, I believe I originally bought it new in 2001. I had to go out and buy a new monitor cable (Belkin, 17" and less) chord to connect to my PC because i couldn't find my old one. When I attempted to start my computer a screen came up that said something about possible damage to my harddrive or that new software might have been installed and asked if I wanted to either: load windows normally, load windows from previous settings, load windows in safe mode, load windows in safe mode with command prompt, or load windows in safe mode with network connections. I tried all of these options and with all of them I got a blue screen that came up and said "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" followed by some text that said I should check for updates or restart and then was followed by some code that went something like "STOP: 0x00000DED (0x81B62A88,0xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). everytime I shut off my PC and started it up again this would happen. The starting windows normally and Safe mode options got me to atleast the beginning windows XP loading page, but all the options eventually brought me to this blue screen. please help!
