When taking outdoor macro photography, how can i prevent the flash from going off?

I took some macro shots of flowers today with an extension tube and the flash on my camera went off even though I was outside. How can I turn off the flash on my camera? I have a Canon EOS.

try to stop the auto focus

and manually disable th flash setting

In the menu setting scroll to flash settings and from there you should be able to disable the flash.
