  1. If you are just taking pics to post on the web, it may  be easier to set your camera resolution to create 1mb pictures instead, this way you don;t have to mess about resizing them afterwards and it will triple the capacity of your memory card too.

Failing that, an program like xat will allow you to download a little program that will resize pics for you quickly, or use one of the expensive software programs such as photoshop.

  2. Those are your original high resolution image files ... the results of your high pixel count digital camera ...  Protect them

You can resize them for posting or emailing to your friends, but remember to save the resized images as different names so you do not overwrite your originals.

600 x400 @ 72 DPI is the usual size that is emailed to others.

  3. Lots of programs out there but I use xnview.

    Google for it.

A very small program and you can do loads of things as well as just compress pics.

  4. why would you want to? additionally, you should look at changing file type of the picture the camera takes from jpg ro raw as jpgs are just about the worst thing to ever happen to digital photography.

reducing/compressing these files more will result in dramatic loss of image quality. if you were interested in lower file size, you should have looked into crappier camera. otherwise simply go out and buy a high capacity memory card for $40

  5. put da memory card in da slot

    then look at da pic

right click on da pic nd press save image...then redownload it to where ever ur downloading it 2..

if dat doesnt work....try uploading it 2 photobucket...then right click on da pic nd press save image then redownload it ..

    hope this helps

For now, I just save them again in MS-paint in JPG, they reduce down to 1mb or less.

Hehe I found it. :) but its bullsh*t

do you know a better one?

  7. You can usually compressed them on your computer by changing the size of the image. Just right click it, and there's one that I believe says 're-size image'. It works well.

If not, you can find a site online to do so.

  8. Most digital cameras have some sort of menu where you can alter the resolution of the pictures. It sounds like your camera is set to a high resolution and you don't need this unless you are doing serious portrait work. Most snaps are taken at 640 X 480 megapixels. This is fine for holiday or party snaps. They won't take up anything like 3mb of memory at this size. Look in the camera instruction manual.

  9. What type of camera are you using ? Some let you do lossless compresion in camera. while they call it that know that it is not truely lossless. Other than that your only choice will be to change the quality of your shots. RAW files are bigger than JPEG, fine JPEG are larger than medium quality or basic JPEGs. But everytime you reduce the file quality you reduce the picture quality. So while the larger files mean fewer pictures you are getting a great deal for that in quality and ability to edit. So you really may not want to reduce the size of the files

  10. If you can live with smaller photos (if it is 3Mb as a jpeg file then it will be a BIG photo)  then go into the menu on your digital camera and select a smaller picture size (not as many pixels).  Experiment with different sizes - it's easy.

If you have already taken a picture and want to make the file smaller, then you can 'resize' it on your computer using photoshop or paint shop pro etc.  You just open the image file and then choose 'resize' from the menu, choose the size you want and save it.

Reducing the size will reduce the detail in your picture but, then again, you rarely need all the detail you've got unless you want to print bigger than A4 size or else to enlarge a small part of it - in which case, just cut out the part you want to enlarge and save that.
